Alstom, DCNS team on floating offshore wind turbine project

AI Summary

Alstom Renewable Power and DCNS teamed up to develop and commercialize an integrated system for a semi-submersible 6-MW floating wind turbine that could eventually open for export.

The companies plan to be in a position to produce the turbine by 2017, featuring a semi-submersible floating system developed by DCNS and Alstom’s 150 offshore wind turbine. The SEA REED project has received support from the ADEME with €6 million ($7.6 million) in funding to cover the initial study and certification phase for the floating system using the Haliade turbine.
