MHI Vestas secures spinner and nacelle covers supply in Taiwan

AI Summary

MHI Vestas Offshore Wind announced the latest deal for locally sourced turbine components for future Taiwanese wind projects with Fassmer Atech Composites Taiwan Ltd (FACT).

The 50/50 joint venture between Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (TYO:7011) and Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) has signed a purchase agreement with FACT for the supply of spinner covers and nacelle covers, which protect wind turbines at sea from the external environment.

The covers will be manufactured for the V174 turbines at Fassmer Atech Composites Taiwan’s facility in Kaohsiung. MHI Vestas will use the components at the Changfang Phase 2, Xidao and Zhong Neng projects.

MHI Vestas has already secured local supply of blades, blade materials, towers, switchgear, rotor hubs, hub plates, nacelle base frames, low voltage cabinets, UPS systems and PCM assembly. More contracts for local supply are expected this year, it said.
