Areva to install venting systems at nuclear power plants in Spain

AI Summary

Areva was contracted to install filtered containment venting systems (FCVS) to two nuclear power plants in Spain.

Plant operator ANAV awarded the contract for Areva to supply the system to the Asco 1 & 2 and the Vandellos 2 nuclear reactors. The systems are designed to ensure the confinement of radioactive materials in the event of a serious accident that generates a rise in internal pressure.

The system is part of Areva’s Safety Alliance program, which has installed equipment in 53 nuclear utilities in 19 countries for a total value of €400 million ($543.9 million).  Areva has installed more than 70 FCVS solutions in 12 countries to date.
