Dominion collects samples for offshore wind project

AI Summary

Dominion Virginia Power (NYSE: D) is testing the ocean floor in hopes to build two offshore wind turbines near the Croatan Beach

A boat that includes a jack vessel, put its 175-foot-long legs into the ocean floor to stabilize itself and then lifted itself up. Core samples of the ocean floor are being collected to make sure the floor is stable enough to support the turbines.

“We are excited about this critical step forward in our efforts to build two offshore wind turbines and learn more about offshore wind,” said Bonita Billingsley Harris with Dominion Virginia Power.

Dominion hopes the project will be able to support two 6-MW turbines.
