June 2017, Bombay – Power2Drive, India’s most innovative exhibition for the electric vehicle industry, announces its highly anticipated 2017 exhibition. The exhibition, held at the Bombay Exhibition Center on December 5-7th, will showcase the best electric mobility technology solutions at this critical point in India’s energy future.

The National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), a government policy think-tank setup by Prime Minister Modi, has declared that Accelerated adoption of electric and shared vehicles could save $60 billion in diesel and petrol costs while cutting down as much as one gigaton of carbon emissions for India by 2030 – equivalent to taking more than 211 million passenger vehicles off the road for a year.

“We are going to introduce electric vehicles in a very big way,” proclaimed Piyush Goyal, India’s Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines. “By 2030, not a single petrol or diesel car should be sold in the country,” he added in a statement that marks India’s strong intent to make this ambitious goal a reality.

India’s strategy, however, would require that more than 10 million electric vehicles be sold in the country in 2030, that’s almost eight times the global stock of electric vehicles today. India had just 5,000 electric vehicles on the road by the end of last year, according to the International Energy Agency, which underlines the mammoth task the government is taking on. The cost of electric vehicles would need to come down drastically and an extensive infrastructure of charging stations would need to be established across the country.

To face this challenge, India requires a concerted and coordinated effort that brings together the best of the private and public sectors in transport, infrastructure and energy – this is where Power2Drive India comes in. India’s premier electric mobility event will run in parallel with India’s
largest solar exhibition Intersolar and energy storage exhibition ees India, to create the perfect gathering to accelerate India’s path to a cleaner and greener society.

“The who’s who of manufacturers, suppliers and distributors, from the automotive, transport and battery industries, will display their latest developments at the exhibition. 2017 is a pivotal year for India’s energy and mobility sectors, making this year’s Power2Drive an unmissable event for anyone
wanting to support or profit from India’s drive towards electric mobility,” said Florian Wessendorf, managing director for Power2Drive India.Further information is available at www.PowerToDrive.in
