Clean Energy Infra Firm to Build Indonesian Industrial Hub

Aslan Energy Capital, which is a Singapore-based clean energy infrastructure developer, has gone on to seal a deal in order to build Indonesian industrial hub in Riau Islands, which is going to be powered by way of clean electricity, including 2 GW of new solar capacity.

It is well to be noted that the company has signed a head of agreement along with the Government of Karimun Regency so as to establish MU CITY, which is a City of Dynamic Innovation in Energy, Mobility, and Urbanization that will have data campuses and industrial zones as well as mobility manufacturing an Indonesian industrial hub by itself.

Estimated at USD 2.3 billion, which is equivalent to EUR 1.99 billion, this 4,000-hectare MU CITY is going to accommodate almost 2 GW of solar and, along with it, an additional 2 GW of power that’s gas-based. The on-site power plants are going to cover the industrial and digital operations of the city, with surplus electricity to be exported to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – ASEAN markets.

The project is going to comprise three major hubs, which are dedicated to green mobility, clean power as well as AI.

Interestingly, the clean energy hub is going to have in it certain large-scale solar power plants along with advanced battery energy storage systems – BESS, CCGTs, and blue ammonia tank complexes and LNG import facilities, whereas the mobility as well as the manufacturing complex is going to be focused on electric vehicle assembly, AI chip ecosystems, battery production as well as green industrial production. The AI as well as the digital infrastructure zone is going to power almost 1.21 GW of hyperscale data center capacity, cloud computing, high-performance digital workloads, and purpose-built artificial intelligence, all of which are going to be powered with the help of the on-site renewable energy.

According to the CEO of Aslan, Muthu Chezhian, MU CITY is indeed going to be a living example of how digital innovation and clean energy, as well as inclusive prosperity, can prosper together. Through empowering the local communities to go ahead and participate directly, Chezhian adds that they are indeed proving that sustainability can be both profitable as well as people-centered.
